A quick dictionary of terms used in this wiki and in Ghost.
Content
Post
A blog article. Usually appears in the main feed and can be scheduled.
Page
A static page (About, Contact, Terms). Usually not part of the post feed.
Draft
A post or page not published yet.
Published
Live and visible according to its access settings.
Scheduled
Set to publish automatically at a future time.
Feature image
The primary image used for post cards, theme layouts, and social previews.
Excerpt
A short summary used in lists and previews.
Tag
A category/label used to organize content and build collections.
Author
The person attributed as the writer of a post.
SEO
Slug
The URL-friendly part of the address (e.g. /how-to-publish-safely/).
Canonical URL
The “official” URL for a page to prevent duplicate-content issues.
Meta title
The title search engines show in results (not always the same as the post title).
Meta description
The short description shown in search results.
Sitemap
A file that lists URLs for search engines to discover content.
301 redirect
A permanent redirect from an old URL to a new URL (preserves SEO value better than 302).
Email / Members
Member
A subscribed user (free or paid), depending on site configuration.
Newsletter
An email stream/list. A site can have multiple newsletters.
Audience / Segment
A filtered subset of members (e.g. “paid members”, “tagged: investors”).
Deliverability
How reliably emails land in the inbox (not spam).
Settings / Technical
Theme
The site’s front-end design layer (templates, styles, layouts).
Code Injection
A place to add scripts/CSS in header/footer without editing theme files.
Integration
A connection to another service (analytics, automation tools, webhooks).
Webhook
An event sent from Ghost to another system when something happens (publish, member signup, etc.).
